Apocalypse

Derren did it again! This time Derren brown had choose a participant named Steven to participate in his latest TV show, the apocalypse!

Derren Brown created few sequences to make him to believe he is the survival after the end of day by meteor rain. this show is to allow Steven, the lazy, sloppy, irresponsible (he admitted it) change to a complete new person but without his awareness.

From process of selection, planting thoughts, execution, explaining steps are almost exactly the previous episode of Derren TV show, Hero at 30,000 feet! I was quite expecting the show can give me something that i can experience differently from the previous episode, but i was disappointing!

Do not get me wrong, it does not mean that this latest show was sloppy and not entertain at all. in fact, i was enjoyed but the feeling that i hoped to be fulfilled was unfulfilled. this could be my expectation was too high for Derren.

Derren did a great job on this and it just follow the mostly the same pattern on Hero at 30,000 feet. the same process of selection, create some scenarios, obstacles for the man to be conquered and happy ending. i appreciated what Derren did for the guy and changed him dramatically. frankly, when i was first time watching Hero, i was completely stunted and felt that this is the thing i have been looking for, but this Apocalypse had no effect on me for this time.

Maybe this time the same pattern could not really fire my nerves to respond dramatically as compare with Hero. but what Derren did for this show is far more extreme than hero. He created the explosion, the zombies, the virus, few other actors that they have special mission that wanted to help Steven to gain from it and there are Compassion, responsibility, leadership (those characteristics are Steven lack of according to his close relatives, friends).

Throughout the entire show, Steven had go through several experiences that he could never forget. in fact, i was wept when end of the show, it was touching and meaningful for Steven. i guess, the best part of this show clearly let us know, when we take the things for granted, we will hardly appreciate but when we lost everything that we have and gain back on what we have, we will appreciate and never lose it again.

Good job Derren, i hope that your next show can fascinate me further than this.
